Clips are not magazines. Magazines are not clips. When referring to a firearm's ammunition feeding device, these are clips. This, in turn, is a magazine. Yes, it's Airsoft, but you get the picture. "What's the difference?" a lot of people ask. There's a huge difference. Clips were designed for older weapons; you load ammo on clips and push ammo from the clip into the gun. The gun has a mechanism which pushes bullets up, moving through the gun. Most magazines are very similar to the mechanisms which move ammo through the weapon, except they're removable. You put ammunition into the magazine (which is possible using a stripper clip) and then put the magazine into the gun. Most shotguns, though, use a completely different mechanism from everything else. They usually use tubular, non-removable magazines, but they're still called magazines. There ARE exceptions, such as the SPAS-15 and USAS-12 that use detachable magazines similar to AK-47s and AR-15s. I don't want to catch anybody using "clip" and "magazine" in the incorrect places. NOTE FOR THOSE THAT MAY BE CONFUSED: You won't be punished if I catch you using "clip" and "magazine" in the incorrect places. I'm not that stupid.
