The island was flooded a long time ago. He and his parents moved to Mesania when the land began to become unstable on the island. When John turned 20, he was recruited as a marine, but after a severe injury a few years later, he was relieved. When John was 26, he met an explorer by the name of Chris Storms, the founder of SG&C. John was looking for a line of work at that time, and asked if he could join Chris. Chris was at first hesitant about a partner, but finally said OK. Since that time they have gone on almost every mission together.
