Actuality

Teardrops fall neatly
Onto the blue lined notebook paper
As I write in my journal the thoughts,
The illusions, and the why’s and how’s
Of what goes on in this immense mass
Of unhappiness
That inevitably seems to introduce me into it.

Looking through the keyhole
Of a polished glass door
Smudged with age
And scratched with the attempts of opening it
I catch glimpses of what could be
And what will be, and then I find myself wistfully thinking
In the solitude of my daydreams
If the glimpses that appear so unclear to me
Will eventually unravel itself
Into something that is makeshift and true
Where I can then open the door
And tear the dark veil off to reveal
That my premonitions and opinions
Are in reality truly conceivable


And that the actuality of the matter is
It isn’t really a door that we all can’t see behind
It is in fact a mask
That subconsciously hides the truth
From us or distorts it in such a way
That it is misunderstood.
