I guess back in the dark ages...Then, there was someplace in the movie that there was referance to it being earth...but I can't remember how it goes. Also in some places it was talking about man being dominate, the elfs are moving away...and man will take over or something like that... I dunno...maybe we will never know... (Dad can now "officially" watch TTT..) Upadte: In theology, earth is sometimes called "Middle-earth". If I remember right Tolkien was a professor of theology (maybe, can't remember).
