Computer Lessons Okay, anyone know a good place where I can learn how the inside of the computer works and what each part in it does? Also anything for programming would help too. | Real Ultimate Walrus Walruser than expected Not walrusy enough 9/3/2002 4:00:55 PM Level: 79 Experience: 2000027 Total Posts: 221 |
RE: Computer Lessons HowStuffWorks.Com has some stuff on the innerds of a computer. As for programming, I've got tons of stuff (a lot of it geared towards game development.) DevGuru is for web-based languages. (Javascript, VBScript, SQL, etc.) I consulted it a lot making this board. Visual Basic World is a place with little tricks and stuff about Visual Basic. I learned a lot of stuff from there. CProgramming.Com is a place for beginning C++. (Or C, if you skip the "Classes" tutorials.) It doesn't teach how to make Windows programs, just command-line-driven. (ie. DOS-based programs) It teaches the basics of C like if statements, loops, structures, etc. What language(s) do you know/want to start? Since Visual Basic is owned by Microsoft, you have to buy the program to compile VB programs. But since C and C++ aren't owned by MS, you can find free compilers on the internet. C++ and VB are the only "compilable" languages I know. I have Borland Delphi, but never really went anywhere with it. On September 21st, 2005...
